I would like to find real gothic dresses or even dresses from the renaissance gothic era. Where can I find them?

You can get nice renaissance dresses from costume shops, although you will pay a pretty penny for the nicer gowns with good material.

Also, you can get someone to make them. This might be the cheaper route. That way you can buy the material and pay the cost of their services. In our area that can be as cheap as $50 if you call around.

I am thinking of buying a sewing machine and learning how to make clothes.

It's hard at first but once you get into it it gets easier and easier. You just have to start out small. Here's a bunch of basic lolita items you can sew in difficulty from easiest to hardest so you can get an idea.

Simple headdress
Alice bow
Simple skirt
Skirt with some detail
Jumperskirt
Blouse
One piece

If you have someone who is fairly good at sewing help you out or take some kind of class on sewing it will help you learn a lot faster.

The hardest thing with sewing lolita clothing is finding or making a good pattern. I personally think it's much easier to make your own. With finding one, you almost always have to modify it anyways. So I don't bother.

I am throwing a B-day party for my 14 year old cousin, she is into goth couture. some tips on decor will even help.

I do not remember the name of the store, but if you go downtown to astor place, there is a store on broadway across the street from K-Mart. There are also planty of stores up and down St Mark's that wil have what you are looking for…it's near 2nd ave going towards the park, I think.

There are none in Georgia.

Little Halo is not real lolita. Trust me when I say not to shop there. You'll regret it if/when you get to be an experienced lolita.

Full outfits cost about $200 and up. The only place where you can get a full outfit for any cheaper than that is http://www.annahousefashion.com (Their prices are in Hong Kong dollars) I really highly recommend buying from them. I love my stuff from there.

My favorite brand is http://www.babyssb.co.jp You should check them out, they're amazing. (Really expensive, though.)
